Archery is an activity that rewards patience, focus and technique. With guidance from our instructors, you’ll learn how to handle the bow, position yourself correctly and aim for the target. You’ll then have the chance to practise your shots and see your accuracy improve throughout the session.

At first, hitting the centre might seem like a distant ambition. But as you settle into your technique, you’ll begin to understand the satisfaction that comes from a well-placed arrow.

The competition soon begins as everyone compares scores and tries to outshoot their friends. One person might have a natural eye for the target, while another gradually improves with every round. That’s what makes archery such a good group activity: everyone has a chance to surprise themselves.

Set against the Herefordshire countryside, outdoor archery gives you a chance to concentrate, enjoy the surroundings and experience a classic target sport in a relaxed setting.

For the final hour, it’s time to put your accuracy, tactics and teamwork to the test with our four Nordic games.

This part of the experience brings together Mölkky, Kubb, Stige and Bullrings. Each game has its own rules and challenges, from knocking down wooden skittles to landing a throwing ring on its target. They’re straightforward to learn, but mastering them can be a different matter!

Mölkky is a Finnish throwing game in which players aim at numbered wooden skittles to reach a target score. A good throw helps, but knowing which skittle to aim for can be just as important.

Kubb is a team game of throwing batons at wooden blocks. Work together, plan your shots and try to defeat the opposing team before taking on the king.

Stige, also known as ladder golf, challenges you to throw bolas towards a ladder-shaped target and land them on its rungs. It sounds simple, but accurate throwing takes practice.

Bullrings is a test of patience and precision. Throw your rings towards the hooks and try to outscore your opponents with a well-judged shot.

These games bring a different kind of competition to the experience. You don’t have to be the strongest or the fastest to win. Sometimes the person with the best aim, cleverest strategy or calmest approach comes out on top.

It’s an excellent way to finish your three-hour adventure, with plenty of opportunities for friendly rivalry, unexpected victories and a few good-natured arguments over the scores!
